A Funeral, A few birthdays, Father's Day, and well nothing went as planned

As I mentioned in my last post we lost Ben's grandmother, Grandma Lilly, last weekend.  We headed over to MO to attend the funeral on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Grandma had a good life, she was 87 and is no longer suffering, in a better place, so it was more of a celebration of life than time to mourn.

We also got to see cousins and family that, well, we just don't get to see very often other than events like this.

Girl's have taken over the Werner family.  When Ben was growing up it was like 7 boys and 1 girl and now the Great Grandkids are all girls and 1 boy I think!!

Mallory had a ball running around, most literally, with her cousins and meeting other family.

Here's her and Grammy at the lunch after the funeral.

Thursday was back to work and Zumba for me, Ben had to head to Chicago after the funeral, so it was just me with Bean until Friday night when he got back.

I woke up at 2:30 am on Friday morning when a stomach bug hit me.  That pretty much kept me totally down all day Friday.  And to make it worse, Mallory had to be home with me because Tiffany and her family had headed to the beach on Friday (although come to find out she got sick Friday am as well and called into the dr for some meds so they could get on the road, just later than planned) and Mom was working and Ben was out of town.

So me with a nasty virus trying to somewhat tame a 2 year old.  needless to say the house looked like a war zone because as long as it wasn't something that was going to hurt her, I really didn't care what she did or what she pulled out.

I was SOOOOO ready for Ben to get home Friday night so he could take over watching her and guess what, she fell asleep in her chair about 10 minutes before he got home and didn't wake up until the next morning!  He got off easy.

Saturday was my birthday and I had big plans, go get my bike, then go to Hot Yoga, spend the afternoon at the pool and then go with Ben to the Black Horse to eat.  Yeah, well, only half that happened.

I did feel better Saturday morning, but I knew I wasn't in any condition for Hot Yoga, so we slept in and I went and got my bike.  Oh and I found out that now Mom had the virus, great.

Got my bike, yeah, now I just have to feel well enough to ride it!

Came home and then after lunch, although I still wasn't hungry, Bean and I went to the pool for a couple hours.

Since mom was now sick and I was in no place to enjoy a good meal and beer at the Black Horse, I told Ben he could play in the glow ball tornament instead.  Bean and I rode around with him in the golf cart for about 3 holes.

Bean and I headed home and watched Cars on tv and crashed.

Oh, and I found out Ben's mom was also sick on Friday, so far it's hit 4.

Now 5, Sunday, and Dad's got it.  So scratch all the Birthday/Father's Day plans for Sunday night.  We will just plan on doing it all next weekend.

So now I'm just enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon watching it rain.  I feel a little more crummy today than yesterday so I'm just trying to take it easy.

Here's a few other pictures.

Relay For Life and we lost one as well

This weekend was Relay For Life in Todd County.

My Bunco Group has been having fundraisers since earlier this year and Friday night was the ending shebang.  Unfortunately the woman who was in charge of the TC one this year never really involved any of us in any of the meetings or communications for that matter and did a very poor job of advertising, so it was probably the worst Relay I’ve ever been to, but we were there and we did our part.

I guess the only good thing to come out of a smaller relay is they decided to close down shop at midnight which suited me just fine.  I’m not one for staying up all night anymore anyway and I’m pretty sure none of us will be involved with it next year after the way things happened this year.

So that was how I spent Friday night.

Saturday morning we got up and I worked on doing some house work and then Bean and I went Grocery shopping.  That’s when Ben called to say his grandmother had passed away.  We’ve known for several months that there was nothing else they could do for her so it was probably just a matter of when.  Thankfully she’s in a better place now and we will be heading to MO for the funeral on Tuesday and Wednesday.

So Bean and I wrapped up grocery shopping and our plan was to then go to the pool but someone fell asleep on the way home and then proceeded to sleep until 4:30!  So we went for a little while when she got up but we were probably barely there 45 minutes.

Oh well.  We made some grilled pork chops for dinner and had a nice evening at home.

Sunday was church and the plan was to go to the pool after church and lunch but it was rainy and cloudy, so no go on the pool.  We cleaned up some more and then headed to Clarksville for a few things.  Came back and had Susan and Nick and Heather and Jason over for burgers and fixings.

And another weekend went by way too quickly.

Elmo butt makes for the best sleeping aid!

Having fun with her new potty!

Everytime she goes she will get an Elmo sticker on her pot, although we aren't actively in training mode yet.

Having fun by Grammy's fern!

The Zoo, and, oh, THE HOUSE IS SOLD!!!!

we FINALLY closed on Thursday afternoon, I'm so excited. Turns out we know the brother of the girl who bought it, funny.

That's a huge RELIEF!!

Friday night I did a "paint and sip" with the girls. In other words, you drink wine, socialize and somehow manage to paint a picture during that time. Turned out pretty well, Ben was impressed. He said he wasn't sure what to expect, lol!

Saturday Dad and Ben were cutting wheat, so Mom and I took Bean to the Louisville Zoo for the NICU reunion. It was great since it was barely 70 degrees on Saturday!!

This was not for us but I found it hilarious!

When we got home Mallory found one of the very few pairs of heels I own and decided they are now hers:

Then she decided to take a few pictures of herself:

We were having fun in the tub Sunday night:
