Well, the dentist totally kicked my butt, er, mouth!

I'm not sure if I mentioned before but about a month ago one of my front teeth broke 2/3 off.

Lovely!

The dentist got me in the next day but there wasn't enough left to cap so a bridge would be the best option once we knew how much insurance would pay.

After much pleading he did put a temp cap thing on it do I at least looked normal and not a meth head with broken teeth.

So Wednesday morning was the scheduled day to pull that tooth and do everything to get a temp bridge and then send the permanent off to be made.

I really don't mind the dentist. He numbed me up good, tooth pulled no problem, all went well. Sent me home with a prescription for Tylenol 3 that I didn't plan on filling.

Wednesday wasn't so bad, the numbness kept me out of pain for a good while until the middle of the night when I woke up to annoying pain. Finally fumbled around and found some Advil that next morning and got to work once the pain subsided.

Still hurt to talk, so I did what i could at work till I couldn't take it anymore and got the Tylenol 3 filled.

I thought I was doing better Friday but at around 11 am it just really hit me hard and I went back home, took more medicine and did what I could but rested the rest of the time.

Ben finally got home after 5, I got Mallory and was feeling more normal so we had some dinner and crashed at like 8:30 pm!

Saturday was Hot Yoga for me since I was finally feeling better and then Bean and I headed to Scottsville area to pick up the portable dishwasher I had found in Craigslist. No more hand washing for me!!

It's in great shape, just a couple years old, and I had to order an adapter so it would fit on our sink, which should arrive today.

This is the blog that I just can't seem to finish, lol!

So the adapter came in, I couldn't get it to work so I called an appliance repairman and he arrived late afternoon. We got it to connect to the sink but something else isn't right so he's coming back Monday!

I STILL have to hand wash dishes, damnit!!!

Ben got back from Louisiana late Thursday night and Friday night we went to the Japanese steakhouse. Bean wasn't a big fan of the fire but she LOVED the food!!

Saturday was 10K day for me! I met Kristy bright and early at Novadell Golf Course in Hopkinsville.

Perfect morning for a run! It was a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, do I got some ribbon wear gear:

We were ready to get our 6.2 miles on!!

I will not give you the play by play of the race but all was going well until we realized the had the finish line at the 5.2 mile ish mark, not 6.2! This is a HUGE faux paux in the running world. You do not advertise a 10K and not give you 6.2 miles of race. Boo!

I finished 5.25 miles or roughly 8.5K in 58:37 or so, which is a great pace for me and I would have been really close to my 1:10:00 goal for the 10K.

I was pretty annoyed, now I have to try to do another 10K to actually do a 10K!!

I did win a titans blanket as a door prize which only minorly made up for the missing mile.

Saturday afternoon the Bunco girls had a private paint and sip party to paint some fall pumpkins, I thought they turned out great!!

Ben shot his bow some and them we had a lazy Saturday night.

Sunday we marked trees where the house and driveway will be so there's actually a little progress on the house front.

The forestry guy is coming tomorrow to mark the trees he think should be cut down.

Mallory napped in her chair!

My mouth is finally pretty normal feeling! Here's some other pictures:

10 Days of No Ben

It happens every year at this time, well, last year and the foreseeable future, Ben has to make the outskirts of Columbus OH his home for 10-12 days every year to set up and work the OH Farm Science Review. That's a big outdoor farm trade show.

Ben headed out on Tuesday the 11th and should be back Friday the 21st. It's also the middle of harvest this year, so he's bummed he's not getting to help dad more, but that's just how it fell this year.

Bean and I have busy while he's in Ohio.

Gymnastics on Monday
A 6 mile run together on Tuesday
I had a spa party thing on Wednesday night
We stuck around home together on Thursday night and washed dishes
Friday night we hit up Toys R Us, had dinner at Chick Fil A and I let her run around on the indoor play ground, which she LOVED!

We then went to the newer and even closer Publix that opened on Wednesday and did some grocery shopping.

Saturday we got up bright and early to meet Kristy for the Trot for the Troops 5K in Hopkinsville.

Bean had a ball, although fairly squirmy before and after the race.

I ran my fastest 5K post baby yet, while pushing the jogging stroller. Around 33:20 and Kristy was about a minute faster than my time. We had a ball!!

Saturday night we went over to Tiffany's for a dinner with some others to welcome a new family in town as she's going to have their 9 month old to watch. So that was fun!!

Sunday morning I had to get up and get packed for my trip to New Orleans for the inaugural Women in Agribusiness Summit where I got to moderate one session and then head up one of the breakout sessions.

Bean crashed with mom and dad and I left at 9 am to catch my flight.

Luckily on the shuttle to the hotel I met a few others in for the conference and we all wanted to go to Bourbon Street, but not alone!

We all piled up into a taxi and headed first to Cafe Du Monde, known for their beignets, so that was lunch. Then we walked over to Bourbon St and we walked around and I took them to Pat O'Brians for Hurricanes.

Of course there was Blue Dog stuff!

Our hotel was right across from the Superdome aka home of Drew Brees aka home of Katrina folks.

The summit was great, lots of valuable networking, great speakers and I got to do my thing as well. I really do enjoy being in front of people! It's like free advertising!

They had great swag for us! You know it's a women's conference when they give you a purse hanger as a gift!

Flew out Tuesday at lunch, just in time to go straight to Hopkinsville and pick up Tucker, drop him off and get clothes for Bean's gymnastics, get her changed and off to gymnastics.

And Wednesday am I had a lovely visit to the dentist to start the work on permanently fixing the tooth I broke 2/3 of it off about a month ago. Fun fun.

Oh, speaking of the dentist, Bean made her first trip to the dentist last week too! I somehow failed to get a picture, but she did great! All is good till she turns 3.

This was before we left for the dentist, she kept closing her eyes!!

Here's a few other pictures and we will be so glad when Ben's home!!

And, I taught Bean to say "howdee" like Minnie Pearl, although it comes out a little different:

The last few weeks in pictures

Here's my Labor Day weekend blog post, I couldn't get it to upload pictures, which is why it wasn't posted very timely. So you can read this first then come back here for pictures and more info!

http://benandrhondawerner.blogspot.com/2012/09/labor-day-and-labor-involved-in-getting.html?m=1

Mallory's sleeping in her own bed is getting better, I hope she keeps it up, we are all sleeping better!

Thursday night we rode with Ben in the combine. Bean screamed as we were getting her in the combine and then as soon as we were moving she was all "weeee" and "wrow" and there was clapping everytime we made a turn and started again!

I had Dad hop in to make a round with Ben and Bean and that lead to a bit more excitement than anyone bargained for.

Apparently a Bearing went down and started smoldering with a small fire. A fire extinguisher, crazy combine driving by dad to Memaw's water hose and screaming by Mallory was involved, so I'm not sure she will be a very willing participant in harvest the remainder of the year.

Mallory's best bud is Bentley. He's about 10 months younger than her, and at times it's a love/hate relationship, but mostly love : )

Here's some cute pictures Tiffany has sent me of them playing together!!

Saturday night was the Blue Moon Ball and we had a lot of fun!! Not a big fan of these pictures, but here's a few:

It was like prom for adults, lol!

Here's a few other pictures:

Labor Day and the labor involved in getting my child to sleep in her own bed

I made a mistake.

Ben says I never like to admit when I’m wrong, so here we go, I was wrong.  When we switched Mallory to her big girl bed several months ago I thought it would be an easier transition to just sit with her on our bed until she fell asleep and then transport her into her bed for the remainder of the night.

That actually didn’t work to bad for a while but then she would wake up and want in our bed at some point in the night, typically 2:30-5 am, so I’d just sling her in between us and we’d all go back to sleep.  No big deal.

Before we left on vacation the 2:30 – 5:00 wake up and come to our bed became 10:30 pm.  Not good.

Vacation didn’t really help matters any because she slept in the bed with us the whole time because I knew she wouldn’t sleep off in one of the other rooms by herself in an unknown condo.

Now that we’ve been home she just wanted to sleep with us all the time again.  I knew there was little point in fighting it until Ben’s parents left from their stay over Labor Day because she’d be back to sleeping in our room.

I even so much as brought her crib mattress and pushed it right up next to our bed to try to get her to sleep on it.  Didn’t really like that AT ALL.

Ben’s parents left and I was too tired Monday night to even attempt the battle that would ensue so we put it off until last night.

About 10 till 9 we started. Did the whole tuck in, turn on Violet, give kisses, turn on her sound/light machine thing, etc. and we sat on our bed to wait.

She popped up, came in our room. Back to the bed, dwindled down what we did each time, kisses, Violet, etc. Screaming and crying every time we plopped her back in her bed. Ben participated and put her back in bed several times too. I can't even count how many times she got out of bed.

She even started running from the door in our bedroom straight to Tucker's bed to lay in it with him (it's in our room too.) Again back to bed. After about 30 minutes of this I just said screw it, and I put her in bed and I laid down with her.

She of course immediately stopped crying, I did turn my back to her (but that's the way I normally sleep when she's in our bed so that wasn't really a "sign" to her) and she snuggled up next to my back and went right to sleep. Ug.

So did I, I think it was about 10:45 when I woke up and went back to bed. So we slept just the two of us in our bed until sometime in the night when she was yelling for momma, so I just went back in there, crawled back in her bed and slept there again until around 5:30 or so and came back to our bed. Then she was up at 6:30.

So by no means perfect but she did technically sleep in her bed all night, which is an improvement, so now I guess I have to continue to work on weaning her of me sleeping with her.

Joy joy. We never had any problems until we moved her from the crib to her big bed a couple months ago.

Guess we will see what tonight brings.

On another note, we’ve had a pretty eventful holiday weekend starting with Thursday.

Aunt Brenda and Uncle Jim were in for a couple days and we all went out to eat with them on Thursday night in Clarksville.  Ben’s parents came over Friday evening and after dinner we headed back to mom and dad’s to visit with Aunt Brenda and Uncle Jim some more.

This was the last weekend that the pool at the Country Club was to be open and I was really hoping for at least 1 good day at the pool but Hurricane Isaac had other ideas.  Dreary, cloudy and raining pretty much all weekend.  We needed the rain but I could have at least given me 4 hours on Saturday for the pool!

Saturday Mallory, Ben’s mom and I went to Opry Mills so I could go dress shopping for the upcoming Blue Moon Ball.  I hadn’t been to Opry Mills since it reopened after the flooding several years ago.  Had some good new stores and I had some luck with a dress.  Mallory overall wasn’t too bad, a couple fits as it got close to nap time, but overall she did pretty well.

We headed back to Elkton so we could go back to Mom and Dad’s again for Susan (sister) birthday dinner.  Another excuse for mom to make homemade ice cream : )

Sunday was church and I got to squeeze a 5 mile run in during nap time and then we started preparing for Bud to fry chicken for everyone.  So Memaw, Mom, Dad, Susan and Nick were at our house Sunday night for Chicken.

Needless to say we got a lot of “all the family” time in this weekend!

Monday continued to be dreary too.  Ben and his dad tried to tackle our washing machine drain issue we were having which turned into dad helping too and became literally an all day affair.  And it still didn’t fix the primary problem, but what they did needed to be done as well, so it wasn’t in vain, but we “think” we’ve finally solved the problem.  Good grief!
