Behind on Blogging: Running, Easter and Miss Bean turns 3!!

Behind on Blogging:  Running, Easter and Miss Bean turns 3!

I’m slacking on my blogging but we’ve had lots going on, especially since Miss Bean turned 3 at the end of last week!!  So, we’ve been celebrating for a while ; )
Since my last blog post we’ve had several exciting weekends.
First was the weekend of the 23rd of March.  That Friday night we attended the Spring Fling at UHA (the school M will be going to preschool).  It’s their big fundraiser of the year, a huge silent auction and live auction.  The kiddos had age group parties going on while the parents ate and bid on stuff and listened to the band, it was a fun time, they do it up well!
In the silent auction Ben came across a Traeger grill, which he has been drooling over forever.  So he watched it and there really wasn’t much bidding action going on with it so he was hoping to get it really cheap.  I wouldn’t say he got it really cheap, but he did get a good deal and we are now the proud owners of a Traeger grill, which thus far has produced some seriously yummy stuff!  We all had fun and we are excited for Mallory to get to go to Preschool there this fall, seems like a really good school!
Saturday morning I had a 5k to go to in Hopkinsville, the Jellybean Jog or something along those lines.  It was a fundraiser for the Arts Council and wasn’t officially timed, but I had my new handy dandy Garmin Forerunner 10 that I was going to happily use to judge my time.  Kristy met me there along with another running friend of hers and we manned the very chilly temps together.
The start was straight up a pretty good size hill and between that hill and the cold temps I could not get my breathing regulated, I really thought I was going to have to stop and walk before I’d even rand a quarter mile.  Finally I got in my grove and then was able to move forward with some pretty good speed.
I don’t know what it is about Hopkinsville races, but none of the fundraising races are really the advertised distance.  That annoying 10K we did last fall that only ended up being 5 miles and this 5K was only 2.93 miles, not close enough in my book.  3.sometihng is ok, but that’s almost .2 miles off.
Regardless, I finished and even after my very rough start I somehow managed to finish that think with an average per mile pace of 10:17, which for me is amazing and means I’m moving ever so much closer to being able to eventually run a sub 30 5K, which would be an ultimate goal for me!
I’m getting excited about running my 3rd half marathon on Mother’s Day weekend now!
Easter weekend was fun, we started off taking off Friday afternoon for Bean and I to head to Nashville to pick up our packets for the Color Run on Saturday morning.  Since the weather was bad and Ben didn’t actually have to work on Friday, he came along with us to battle Opry Mills.
Let’s just say that for whatever reason, Opry Mills was more chaotic on Good Friday than when we were there close to Christmas.  Nuts and it was pouring down rain, once we were in it wasn’t so bad, but parking was crazy.
We picked up our shirts, wrist bands and race bibs and then walked around to do a little shopping.  Part of the trip was to take Bean to the aquarium restaurant.  She’s been all enthralled with fish lately so we figured we were there, we might as well go.  So we had dinner there, got some shopping done and headed back home to get some rest to meet up with the rest of the girls early on Saturday morning to head back to Nashville to do the Color Run.
There were 15 of us I believe that were meeting up, counting the kiddos.  It was fun, we dressed up in the blue and white Dr Suess looking hats and other blue and white for UK.  We just walked, several were pushing the kids and we just had fun walking and talking and getting color dust all over us and just being silly.
Mallory enjoyed it, of course Mizzou had to go as well, so he got splattered with color dust too, thankfully it all comes out pretty well.
We headed back home, and I was tired!  Mallory and I just relaxed for the afternoon and Ben and Dad worked on trying to bust up a log jam in the creek.  Finally they gave that up and around 4 pm we headed to Owensboro to go get Bean a Playhouse from Mrs Carole.  She and her husband are retiring and she’s selling all her daycare stuff, so I asked if I could get her playhouse, and I was able to!  It was $420 new, which I was not going to pay for, and this worked just fine and we finally got to see Mrs Carole again, it had been a while!!
Then we grabbed some dinner and headed back home so M could get to sleep so the Easter Bunny could come.  Oh, and we got pictures with the Easter Bunny at Opry Mills, man oh man does she love large furry animals, she was beaming from ear to ear!!
Mallory was quite happy with her Easter Basket and after some chocolate and pictures we were off to church.  Then back home for a while before heading over to mom and dads for Easter Dinner, egg hunting and of course, more chocolate.
And now on to the Birthday week!  She got her Play house all set up, and Monday the swing set mom and dad got her was delivered and we filled up her sandbox with the leftover sand dad had got for the sandbox on that swing set, so she has a sand box at our house and at theirs, she is sand box poor!  She LOVED the slide, she’s still not so sure about the swings yet though, we will have to work on that!
Ben’s parents came Friday afternoon late and Ben grilled dinner for us.  Saturday I got to get a nice 7 mile run in while the grandparents got to play with Mallory.  Then I got cleaned up and we headed to Clarksville to get Pizza’s for the birthday party and to make her cake.  Which was an amazing yummy strawberry cake!
Late afternoon we headed to Mom and Dad’s for her official birthday party.  Lots of clothes, some toys and stuff for the sand box and she was good to go.  Everyone enjoyed and Mallory had a ball opening presents!
I still can’t believe she’s 3!
We made the trip to the Dr today to have her 3 year checkup and she’s 30.8 pounds and 38 inches tall, just right ; )  46% weight and 86% height, a bean pole.  For us, totally normal : )
Now to get this potty training thing down pat…..
