Ben and I, and apparently Dad too, acquired a cold for Christmas. Ug. Mine and Dad's seemed to be worse than Ben's and finally today I'm feeling closer to normal. Earlier this week was a bit of a medicine induced haze.
As I mentioned in a post several weeks ago we are worried about Tucker's vision. We went to the Vet on Thursday to see what they had to say. It was as we figured, cataracts. Cataracts are odd in a dog as young as Tucker, he's 7 1/2. Normally early onset cataracts are caused by diabetes but they did a blood test and he does NOT have diabetes, thankfully. The Vet said that it appears as though he has essentially no vision in the one eye and very limited in the other. So, all that sucks but he's getting around pretty well in environments he's familiar with. With cataracts, like in humans, they can be removed, for a cost of course. There are also some supplements that claim to help, the vet said it can't hurt, so we will try those for a month or two first and see if we can tell any difference but my guess is sometime in the first quarter or so of 2011 we will take Tuker to Nashville to have the cataract in one eye removed. Apparently in dogs it's just as advantagous to just do one eye, and more cost effective as well.
Since I'm still recovering from a cold and have a list a mile long of things that need to be done around the house, we are staying home for New Years. We grilled a steak, have a bottle of champange, watching a few movies (which is really rare at our house) and just relaxing. We skyped into Aunt Brenda and other than that, it will be a low key entrance into 2011.
Hopefully I can finish my list of things to do and be ready to start 2011!!
Here's a few recent pictures!
