Weekend in Sikeston

Well, we didn't get to leave until Saturday morning because of some tractor chaos that broke out in Ben's territory, but we were able to get ourselves out the door and going down the road by 7:30 am on Saturday morning.

Here's bean snoozing on the way there and my view from the back middle seat, my spot since Tucker is on the front seat.

Our initial plans for Saturday were to go to the Prarier de Rocher, or something like that, in IL, a big reenactment thing that Uncle Tom would be at. As Saturday drew closer and before we had tractor issues, heat was the issue. A high of 100 for Saturday. Awful. So, we had pretty much decided to either not go or not stay very long, I didn't want Mallory out in all that heat!

So, instead we had a nice day of eating BBQ at Ben's favorite place....probably my least favorite style of BBQ that I've ever eaten, but I dealt with little complaining. If you are ever in Jackson, MO, Wibbs is how I think they spell it. They are known for their "combination" sandwich which I believe was their minced bbq and pimento cheese all on one sandwich. Minced, which I had forgotten about means essentially tuna fish but made with minced up bbq. BBQ, Mayo and Relish. Interesting to say the least.

Either way, the place was packed, we ate and then headed on to Perryville, MO to go see Grandma Lilly in the nursing home. She seemed to be doing well, other than some false teeth issues. She's always glad to see Mallory!

We visited for a while and then headed out to the Perryville Wallgreens to see Aunt Donna. She hadn't gotten to see Mallory yet, so we stopped in there for a few and refueled with some cold drinks.

Here's some pictures from the Nursing Home:

Back to Sikeston and I mixed up some mint juleps. Yummy!

We basically just bummed around the rest of the evening. Here's Bean enjoying her exercauser there.

Sunday it was off to church and then a big lunch/get-together for Ben's dad's birthday.

Chicken, hashbrown casserole, green bean casserole and other stuff......ate way too much.

Here's Mallory checking out pastor!

Now that we've celebrated Buddy's birthday, we've got to figure out what to get him! I'm still pondering his mom's present which her birthday is almost a month ago now.

I'm really failing at this birthday thing this year.

Back on the road around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, so a quick trip, but we crammed a lot in!

I guess she's still recovering, as well as teething like a mad dog! Here she fell asleep on her bouncer this afternoon! I'm working from home this week as Mrs Carole is vacationing in Florida. Megan, our neighbor, is coming over each morning until Lunch so I can get some work done!!

And, in trying to get back into posting an "old" picture, since I missed it on Memorial Day, in a salute to all our current and previous troops, here's a picture of my favorite Veteran! Dad all decked out in his flight gear in Vietnam. Circa 68 or 69 I believe, I don't have it in front of me at the moment.
