Turkey Trotting

Turkey Trotting

Still no deer yet.  I’ve cleaned out the deep freeze, threw away all the crap that’s been in there for
literally years and we have plenty of space for a deer, or two : )  Now I wait.

Still no luck in the deer hunting this weekend.  Seeing all kinds, so it’s not like he’s bored
out there, just no shooters.

Ben was gone all week and finally got back Friday night.  I had Bunco, so Bean spent some
fun time and ShaSha’s, aka Aunt Sharon’s, where she got to see Matt, Memaw,
Susan and Nick, so she had a good time while Mommy was enjoying some no-child time : )

Mallory, Kristy and I had signed up for a Turkey Trot in Greenvile for Saturday, a little local 5K. Cute shirts but the 5K was a loop twice around town, mainly on the sidewalks of Greenville that had STEPS in 2 different spots, for 4 times we had to deal with a few steps.  It was just odd and not very conducive for a jogging stroller!!

Kristy had a great run coming in just over 30 minutes and she probably would have been under if she hadn’t helped us two times with steps on the first loop.  Once I knew where they were it wasn’t as bad on the second, but jeeze!

I think our time was 34:52 or so.  Not one of my fastest, but still under 35 minutes.  There was this one hill, that we had to climb twice, that was awful.  I really had to walk up it while pushing Mallory.

Kristy got third in her age group and after some issues with being able to read my hand writing, I ended up getting 3rd in my age group.  Next year we will be in the same age group…..more competition, lol.

I didn’t get a picture of me and my bling, but here’s Kristy and then us after the run.

Saturday night Ben wanted steak so we went out for a steak with the fam to Torino’s in Springfield. They make their steaks like Charlie’s did.  So since we can’t go to Charlie’s since it burned down, this is where we go!

Sunday was long run day and I was not going to do it while pushing a jogging stroller so Bean went to Mom and Dad’s while I ran with Kristy in Elkton and Ben mowed the leaves.

We did 10.5 miles in 2 hours 4 minutes, which I was thrilled with!  We can get close to a 2.5 hour half marathon!  But my groin muscle was bothering me, I think I strained it or something a week or two ago during a run so I’m going to really try to let it rest before our half.  Sunday may have to be my last long run before our race, we will see how I feel.  I don’t like being injured!!

Ben hunted and I blew leaves out of the yard that Ben had
mowed early, we made tacos and then called it a night.
