Day 6: Aunt Sue comes to visit

Today started a little earlier or later than I had planned depends on how you look at it.

I've been fighting allergy crap for almost 2 weeks now and I feel like I'm on the tail end of it all, no longer congested, just pretty much been without much of a voice for the past several days.

Well last night we went back to the hospital to see Mallory, who was doing just great, I started coughing. It wasn't like chest congestion coughing, more like there's a tickle in your throat that will not go away coughing. Well 4 hours after continued coughing and trying to breathe without coughing, trying everything I knew to stop coughing with nothing working, I finally told Ben we had to go somewhere, I couldn't take this anymore. So off to the ER we went, we just went back to Norton's since thats really all we knew.

I think we arrived around 12:30, sat around forever, finally got called back, waited around forever more, finally saw the dr who took all of, seriously, 1/2 a second look at my throat and wrote a few prescriptions. Then Ben asked about breast feeding, nope can't take the "good" cough syrup if you are breast feeding, so he went back wrote more prescriptions and to give me some medicine to start.

He came back with Claritin and a prescription for a z pack. I'm like are you serious??? I just spent 4 hours in an ER for you to give me a claritin??? I'm sure I had a few choice words, but regardless it worked, I just never would have thought to take a claritin for a freaking cough.

So we got back to the camper at 4:30 AM, got out the black-out masks I have and went to bed and for the most part slept until noon or after.

Susan and Nick came up so they could see Mallory, again for Susan and the first time for Nick.

Susan and I went on the the hospital since because of my lovely ER trip I didn't get as early start to see her as I wanted. It was time to feed her when we got there, so I tried to give her a bottle. She drank some, but really didn't care too much about it yet. They normally don't really get into the suck/swallow mode until 34 to 35 weeks, so the fact that she takes any is good.

They Susan held her while the rest of her feeding went in through the feeding tube.

Here's some pictures of Mallory and Sue!

Mallory is doing really good. She's gained some weight, so now we are really just working towards her gaining weight so she will be stronger to take more of her feedings orally, it just takes some time. He temperature regulation is getting better, so I'm hoping sometime next week she will be in an open air crib!

So now we are just taking it easy at the campground. Nick and Ben are around the campfire, drinking beer and talking about who know what. Sue, Tucker and I are watching TV and playing on the internet....we are real "serious" campers, LOL!

Looking forward to hopefully spending some exteneded time with Mallo Bean in the hospital tomorrow and Mom and Memaw are coming up, so Mallory will get to meet her Great Grandmother for the first time!
