A weekend with Grandma

Ok, so I'm 99% sure I wrote this post earlier this week and have no idea where it went.

Perhaps I dreamed I wrote it but I can't seem to find it anywhere so lets take another stab at this.

Ben's grandmother has not been doing well over the past few weeks.  She's actually pretty stable at the moment, but 2 weeks ago we weren't too sure.
We decided we needed to get to Sikeston so we could get up to Perryville to see her.

Ben had to be in IL last Friday, only an hour and a half away from Sikeston, so he went from there and Mallory, Tucker and myself headed over Friday afternoon.

We went up Saturday to see Grandma Lilly, she was happy to see us, mainly happy to see Mallory, but we are used to that at this point.  We are just the caretakers of the grandchild and great grand child.

Thankfully she seemed to be doing pretty well Saturday.
Here's some pictures from the weekend:

Hand, Foot and Mouth Virus, Yipee (sarcasim here)

Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner, it's been a busy week.

Mallory is rarely sick.  In thinking back, other than a cold here or there I don't think she's been really sick since she had RSV in Feb of 2011.  So we've been lucky.

Thursday Tiff called and said Bentley went home sick and the Dr said he had Hand, Foot and Mouth Virus but they thought they caught it early.  Tiffany went through 3 containers of Lysol trying to help prevent it spreading to the others.

Friday we were back to Tiffany's but about 9:30 she sent me a text saying Lola had a fever, which is how it all starts.  So I opted to just go get Mallory and come back to the office with her until Mom got back from Clarksville and she was going to watch her Friday afternoon for me.

At this point she still acted fine.  When I went to pick her up Friday afternoon you could tell she didn't feel good, she was all snuggly and not her normal bouncing off the walls self.  We went home and her temp was up, so some motrin and snuggles in the recliner watching Nick Jr.

She NEVER cuddles, so at least I got to take full advantage of that!

Her fever got up to almost 103 Friday night, no blister/bumps yet but I got her fever back down and she and I went to sleep in our bed and waited for Ben to get home which his eta from Iowa was midnight.

By midnight her fever was low enough to not be concerning, so I moved her to her bed and then we all slept in Saturday am
.
Saturday morning and most of the afternoon she acted pretty normal even though she was still running a low grade fever with the motrin every 6-8 hours.  She had the first signs of a few blister/bumps and you could tell there must be a few in her mouth because there were a few things that seemed to bother her.

Her fever ended up spiking again to 103 Saturday night, about the same time as Friday night.  We got it back down again and then she was acting fine again.
Sunday was better, more spots but still nothing major.  Still a low grade fever but very much more herself.

By Monday we were fever free and Mom watched her in the AM while I went to work and then I stayed home with her in the afternoon.

Lola ended up with a much worse case of it and we opted to stay home another day on Tuesday.

Again Mom kept her in the am and then I went home in the afternoon.

Finally by Wednesday everyone seemed to be happy and pretty much back to normal so everyone was back to Tiffany's!

So we made it though our first day care virus!  I'm just thrilled it did not involve puke.

And Mallory's case was very minor compared to many others, so that helped as well.

Maybe if we are lucky we can go another 14 months before our next sickness!

Poor Baby not feeling well : (

Ben did manage to kill a turkey in the middle of all this Saturday afternoon late:

Mom, just let me sleep!

2 year birthday & Easter!!

Wow what a 2 weeks!!  2 year birthday & Easter!!

Sorry it took so long, for some reason my photo uploader for the blog was crazy slow!!!

I was waiting to blog about the birthday festivities until they were finished on Thursday but then we were into Easter, so might as well do one big huge post!

I really can’t believe my munchkin is 2, and she just doesn’t look like a baby anymore.  She is full on toddler now.

We will start with Birthday party weekend!  I didn’t want to combine Easter and Birthday in one weekend, and I’m glad I didn’t.  They both about did me in individually but I couldn’t imagine trying to do them both!

We had Bean’s birthday party at the Soda Shop in town.  That way no one had to cook or clean up, we just brought cake and presents!  Speaking of cake, isn’t that just the cutest thing ever!

Oh, and in case you missed it earlier, here’s her invitation again, super cute from etsy.com:

Family and friends at the soda shop with plenty of hot dogs, drinks, ice cream and cake to go around!  No leaving there hungry!  Mallory had a ball opening all of her presents, hugging on the Elmo and Big Bird Balloons and showing off in her sun glasses.  Child got tons of stuff and I’ve got to sit down and work on thank you’s!!

It was a good birthday party and I think everyone enjoyed it and the cake was amazing!  I froze what was left in 2 big sections because there was no way I was letting it go bad!!

Everyone was ready to watch UK beat Louisville and then of course go on to win the championship on Monday night!  I care nothing about basketball until tournament time, but it is fun to see your state in the spotlight for something other than meth, obesity, etc.

We did manage to get Bean’s picture with the Easter Bunny.  Truthfully it hadn’t even crossed my mind to do it but Susan, she and I were at the mall the Friday night before her Birthday and he was walking around and Mallory had a fit to see him.  Again, this strange love she has of way oversized animals.  Here’s the picture…..she didn’t want to let go!

The rest of the week was a bit of a blur because we got a call about our travel trailer that I had listed again for sale.  Ben met with them on Monday morning, they liked it and decided they wanted it.  We agreed on a price and they were going to drop me off a check on Tuesday and wanted to get all the owners manuals that went along with it.  I thought they were in Elkton but no, they were in Utica.  Ben was way up in IN by this point so I had to go all the way up to Utica late Monday afternoon to get all those manuals.

They dropped off the check on Tuesday and then picked it up on Saturday am.  Woo hoo!  Quite happy it’s sold.  We just were not using it, it needed to go somewhere where they would use it.  It served it’s purpose for us well, especially when Bean was in the NICU, but fingers crossed, we never have to go through that again!

Bean celebrated her Birthday at Tiffany's on Wednesday with cupcakes and another present!  Here's some of those:

Thursday afternoon we had Bean's 2 year checkup with her new Dr in Clarksville.  The only thing I was a little concerned about was that I knew she didn't have over 50 words that I understood.

Dr. Moore was great!  They loved Mallory.  She stood on the scale like a big girl.  They commented that she was the only 2 year old who didn't scream when they made them stay on the scale.  26 pounds!  Onto to height, 35 inches!!!  I knew she was tall but dang, I didn't realize she was that tall.  So she is now 81% in height, 76% in weight and 64% in head!  My baby and my preemie are not itty bitty anymore.  Way to catch up Bean!!!  Dr Moore said she was a perfect 2 year old and even advanced!

We celebrated at Chick Fil A for dinner afterwards : )

Thursday night Tiffany and Ross came down in their Motorhome.  That made it nice since in the house we are in right now, we really don’t have room for many more than ourselves.  They had their space and we had ours.  It was so good to get to see them, I hadn’t seen Tiff in almost 2 years!!  Bean really liked the Motorhome : )

Friday night we met up with our college friend Jarrod, who lives in Pembroke, and his wife and kids and met them for dinner in Clarksville.  So good to get to see them too.  Jarrod only lives maybe 20 minutes away but we just haven’t been able to get together since we moved back.  We tried to take a few pictures, but none really wanted to take for some reason!

Saturday was crazy.  Ross and Ben had gone to Utica to meet the people to buy the travel trailer and Tiff, Bean and I were going to head to Opry Mills since it has opened again and then meet a preemie mom friend at Cheekwood for the Easter Egg hunt.

Well, Ben got to Utica and forgot the key to the hitch lock on the camper.  So in a fuming rampage I made my way up to Utica to give him the key and THEN drive down to Nashville.  Needless to say there was no time for Opry Mills, we got to Cheekwood about 10 minutes before our scheduled meet up time with Becca, Brad and their daughter Hannah.  Hannah was born about 2 weeks before Mallory.

Does Bean not look just like Dad there!!!

Regardless, we had a good time at Cheekwood and took a lot of pictures.

Saturday night Mindi, another friend from college who lives in Paducah, came over to see Tiffany and Ross as well.  We grilled out and just had a good time.

Finally got to bed and then Sunday morning got Tiffany and Ross on their way back to OH, made the mad dash to church and then got Ben packed and headed off to Iowa.  Bean and I spent the afternoon at mom and dad’s.  I relaxed in the Hot Tub and we had dinner and then Bean and I were in bed by 7:40 pm!

Needless to say it was a crazy Easter Day, but here's a few pictures!

The Birthday Countdown Begins!!

'Tis birthday season around here for one little Miss Bean!

Here she is after her first hair cut on Wednesday! We took some pictures at Aunt Sharon's.

Her first hair cut went way better than I expected! She was great, liked watching herself in the mirror and Amy's birthday present arrived perfectly (thank you by the way, super cute dress too) and it kept her distracted with a new toy! We went to get celebratory ice cream afterwards!!

I'm totally amazed that she will be 2! So much has changed in the last year.  I'm putting together her year 2 birthday video and it's just amazing.  I think the time between 1-2 is even more of a change than birth to 1!

I've got presents wrapped, birthday cake ordered, helium found (apparently there was a shortage in Elkton??) and stuff is ready!  Just gotta iron that cute Elmo dress and I found her white squeaker sandals today to wear with it!!

This weekend was pretty slow.  Ben headed over to the Lake on Friday afternoon to spend the weekend crappie fishing with his bud Nathan, so they had a low key weekend fishing and brought home some fish for frying later!!

Bean and I spent Saturday am cleaning house.  Yuck.  I've never liked it and it never gets better!

I forgot to mention that Friday evening after work Bean, Sue and I ran my Prematurity Sucks Virtual 5K again!  This time with our race bibs.  So fun!!

Saturday afternoon we had our Bunco Tournament for Relay for Life.  It was fun, we all had a good time and had a pretty good turnout.

Saturday night was off to Clarksville to dinner with Mom, Dad, Sue & Nick. Mallory loves sucking on limes??

Sunday am Susan and I got up to pound out our 4.5 mile training run for our upcoming 10K.  I enjoyed it.  Susan might beg to differ but she did great and I'm looking forward to this race in Nashville on April 14!!

Then a quick trip to Target after our run and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at home!  Ben finally got back around 4pm.

Time to party this weekend for the big 2!!
