Great Cardiologist Appointment!!

We had Mallory's follow up appointment with the Cardiologist today and it went really well. Mallory was very well behaved, as always. No crying, just a little squirmy and she likes to squeal, my little piglett, but it's funny and cute, not squalling!

They did an EKG and Echocardiagram (which is a fancy name for a heart ultrasound) all of which I've had done to me numerous times before because I have a heart murmur.

Since on my last post, it was obvious I couldn't actually remember what Mallory's diagnosis was in the NICU in regards to her heart, if it was a hole a murmur or both, all I really remember is them saying it doesn't appear to be anything to worry about, we will recheck in 6 months and it got filed to the back of my brain because things like apnea's while eating were much more of a concern then.

Well, I guess she had both, a PDO hole and a murmur. The hole has completly closed on its own!! Woo hoo! He said he still thinks he might hear a faint murmur, but it's innocent like mine, and we get an all clear and don't have to go back.

She is up to 15 pounds 3.5 oz now....just keeps gaining!

We've moved onto green beans and squash....she hates green beans but loves squash! Get's mad if I don't shovel it in fast enough for her!! Will probably try peas or sweet potatoes tonight.

Muzzleloader season for Deer is this weekend in Kentucky, so that means another trek down to Mom and Dad's, which I enjoy, but what I wouldn't give for an entire weekend at home! Looking like that may not happen until the first weekend of November and even then I have to work the Junior League Rummage Sale at least Saturday morning.

I like to volunteer and be part of organizations that help people....must come from the Aunt Brenda gene in the family because I know no one else in our family who seems to have the need to do that or volunteer, but I like it. I'm also one of those people who seems to work better when really busy or under pressure, so the more stuff on my plate the more effecient I become. So, outside of Junior League I'm going to volunteer with our local March of Dimes chapter. I had no clue really what March of Dimes was all about until I had Mallory....or knew I would be having a preemie...so now obviously that's a cause that's is close to my heart. So I have a meeting next week to help out with a fundraising dinner that MOD is having in November and will then be able to help with and participate in the March of Dimes Walk on April 30th of next year.

And for those of you who were as clueless as I was about the March of Dimes, you can find out more here, but essentially they are a non profit that is dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Basically helping to prevent premature births, although there was nothing I could have done or been done differently in my case, but this group has helped raise money and found new ways to treat babies born too early and those methods and treatments helped Mallory and many others.

So, you will hear me talk a lot about the March of Dimes!

Because of my desire to help out with the March of Dimes, my 1/2 Marathon goal race must be tweaked. The March for Babies, their walk and primary fundraising event, is going to be April 30 in Owensboro.....the same day as the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville. So I did a little digging, found one in Bowling Green at the end of March but Mary Ruth has found a 1/2 Marathon in Evansville on April 10th, so that should work out great!! So, that's my new goal race, so I can do both.

And my new book of choice at the moment, and to help keep me motivated, is Run Like a Mother. Which I find the title humerous, but it talks about training for a marathon while juggling life, work, kids, husbands, dinners, dogs, etc. Here's the link for more on the book.

For everyone's Bean fix....here's a few pictures of our cutie pie! I stole some from Mrs. Carole's facebook page since I really hadn't taken any the past couple days! Here's Mallory enjoying The Empty Nest!!
